Richard Collier

Senior Production Manager

Richard began working in the TV industry in January 2010, initially joining mneTV to assist with an office move. What was intended to be a short-term runner role developed into a seven-year tenure with the company, raising to the rank of Technical Manager on all BBC ALBA’s sports output. Alongside this Richard worked as Production Coordinator on RTS winning Sport-Documentary projects for Purple TV.

After a brief period at BBC Gàidhlig, Richard joined Tern as a Production Coordinator in 2019 and has risen through the ranks to become Senior Production Manager and when needed has stepped-up to cover the Production Executive role.

Richard works closely with teams across our network, primarily focusing on Aberdeen and Belfast productions. Richard spends his days wearing the many hats of a Production Manager supporting the production teams with their organising, coordinating, scheduling, HR, H&S, compliance and budgeting needs. His Tern credits include Dr Xand’s Con or Cure, Sunday Morning Live, Our Tiny Islands S2, Istanbul’s Food Fusion, and Bafta winning Being Gail Porter. Richard considers himself a Guardian of Beechgrove Garden.

Richard can often be found helping someone in the company - the team refer to this as his “side-quests”.

Richard’s most vital duty is to bring his dog Duncan to work. Duncan the “Goldador” works as the welcoming party to all Tern’s visitors, and protects his Tern pack by insisting he gets first pats.
